Philippa & Ed’s Award Winning Lympstone Wedding!
Philippa & Ed’s wedding was an absolute blast. Foregoing the traditional wedding plans somewhat, they wanted to keep things as eco-friendly as possible, and focus on family, friends and fun. So they decided to hold their wedding in their beloved little village of Lympstone.
Lympstone Wedding Photographer
By coincidence, I was booked to be a wedding photographer in Lympstone twice in the same year, a place I had never heard of, let alone visited, it turned out to be a delightful, picturesque village in Exmouth, East Devon. The two weddings were completely different in style; one was Flo & Chris’s wedding at the River Exe Cafe, and the other was this one, Philippa & Ed’s village hall extravaganza!
Village Hall Wedding
It may have been a modest venue, but with a huge DIY community effort they had the place looking fabulous. The thing that struck me with this wedding was the depth of emotion I felt from Pip & Ed towards their family & friends. The love in the room was so strong. There were so many fully squeezed hugs, plenty of tears, and barrels of joy. One that stands out in particular was the relationship between Philippa, her sister and their Mum; it was truly beautiful and touching to witness.
I entered this wedding into an awards organisation called This Is Reportage and actually won a story award for my coverage. Story awards are sets of 15-20 images from a single wedding, all documentary, nothing staged, which tell the story of the day. I was so chuffed to win one for this wedding; it shows that weddings are not about flashy venues, but about people, connection and love.
