Nancarrow Farm Wedding Photography

A Nancarrow Farm Wedding in the Cornish sunshine!

There are few wedding venues that can rival Nancarrow Farm in any weather, but on a sunny day, like Merryn & Matt were blessed with for their wedding day, it’s just perfect!

The venue: Nancarrow Farm near Truro, Cornwall

What can I say about Nancarrow Farm? It’s definitely one of my absolute favourite wedding venues in Cornwall, and from a wedding photographer’s perspective I can 100% recommend it.

A working farm with a long history, but with relatively recent and high quality conversions made to its barns to create a bespoke wedding venue with just the right mix of traditional character and modern style. Think big oak beams and stonework, but also tall bright windows with plenty of light streaming in. You could just get married there without decorating for a rustic look, but it’s also open to putting your own stamp on it if that’s what you want. There’s loads of outdoor space for guests to enjoy, with grassy lawns, flowery hedgerows, pretty orchards and beautiful views around the rolling fields in the valley. Fab for the wedding guests, but also it’s perfect for the couple to have a stroll and create some of my relaxed style of wedding portraits.

Nancarrow’s Rusty Barn: a stunning wedding ceremony location

The Rusty Barn is the most recent conversion at Nancarrow Farm and is a cracker of a ceremony location. It looks stunning with the doors opened up on three sides and the light streaming in. It really is such an adaptable building for ceremonies at any time of year and is so full of character and atmosphere with all your friends and family there to watch you make your vows. Nancarrow is also licenced for weddings in front of the Oak Barn as well if you want even more of an outdoorsy feel to your wedding ceremony.

The Oak Barn i.e where the magical food gets scoffed!

The Oak Barn is an amazing dining room for your wedding breakfast, with plenty of rustic charm and big windows at either end to let tons of light in. It seats up to about 130 on the long trestle tables, and overlooks a lovely courtyard on one side and a millpond on the other.

The perfect setting to enjoy some of Nancarrow’s renowned and quite frankly epic food! Very well known to locals, they always sell out their feast nights and their wedding day catering is second to none. With award winning, organic beef and lamb from the farm, they serve a rustic style menu with a heavy emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients sourced from the farmland, its fruit orchards, the herb garden, kitchen garden and the surrounding hedgerows. Even their open-air kitchen is fuelled with wood from a local woodsman. It’s a foodie heaven, trust me.

The food is served in a relaxed, but still efficient way by Nancarrow’s fantastic team of staff. Headed up by Event Managers Heather and Eavan, the staff strike the perfect balance of seamlessly getting everything done without fussing over you too much, which, combined with the setting of Nancarrow, leads to a really informal atmosphere for you and your guests to enjoy.

Nancarrow Farm Wedding Photographer

I’ve photographed a few weddings at Nancarrow Farm now, and it’s always been fab, rain or shine. I’m local to Cornwall and know the area really well, so if you want to head off to the beach for a stroll during your wedding day, I can definitely help plan that part out and find you an amazing location. I have over five years experience photographing weddings in Cornwall and love my job!

Merryn & Matt’s Wedding Day

Okay, that’s enough about the amazing venue that is Nancarrow Farm and on to Merryn & Matt’s wedding day. What a cracker and an absolute pleasure to photograph. Just the right mix of emotions, fun times, an awesome playlist (which I still listen to on my Spotify!), great people, relaxing, partying hard, and jagerbombs! Oh yes! Jagers en masse!

Here’s some feedback from Matt & Merryn:

Thank you so much for these incredible photos. We have been through them this evening and absolutely love them! You have captured the day perfectly and some of the photos of us out and about around the farm are particularly great! It was so lovely to have you as part of our day and will thoroughly recommend you to any friends getting married!

It was a joy to be their wedding photographer at Nancarrow, the atmosphere all day long was just so much fun, and I could easily have put ten times the amount of photographs into this blog post! Merryn and Matt themselves were so great to be around and just gave me total trust to get on and do my thing! Trust from my couples is so important, the more you can just relax and get on with enjoying your day, the better the images will be. My approach is to just let things flow and allow spontaneous events to happen as much as possible! You can’t beat real moments!

If you are getting married at Nancarrow Farm and are looking for a documentary wedding photographer who will capture all the fun, love, and craziness of your wedding day, please get in touch as soon as possible for a chat, my diary tends to fill up quite far ahead!

Enough of me talking; in no particular order, here’s a selection of some of my personal favourite photographs from this incredible Nancarrow Farm wedding day! Enjoy!
